LYRICS

In response to mounting requests, I'm going to dedicate this space to the lyrics for my songs. First up, Sigh of Relief. I wrote it after watching a NewsHour report on the realities of foreclosure.

We breathe a sigh of relief
When there proves no cause for grief
When the tree returns to leaf
When the ship is past the reef

We fear we see a sign
Of a most disturbing kind
In certain frames of mind
That may pass by morning time

We ease up on the gas
With a cherry in the glass
And the needle pointing fast
And the die already cast

We might just lose our grip
When there is no job to quit
And there is no house to split
And the hope of a hand is zip

We breathe a sigh of relief
When the tide of trouble is brief
When the knife stays in the sheath
When the beggar is not a thief
And the beggar is never the thief
